Our Favorite Tech Toys – Not So Strictly Business

Summer is in full swing, and it’s time to sign up for SPC’s traditional summer barbecue event on Monday, August 14.

This year, we’re reprising our popular “tech toys” panel. We’ve done this a few times before, and it’s always been a hit. And it’s been different every year, because, of course, the technology keeps changing. (At one of our earliest tech toy panels, the buzz was all about something called “Skype.”)

Our presenters this time will share their hot tips on their favorite new and maybe not-so-new technologies. And there will be opportunity for attendees to do some show-and-tell of their own. So come prepared to share your own favorite whizbang gizmos as well as to learn about other people’s.

And because it’s summer, the presentations won’t be all strictly business tools. Come prepared to share, or learn about, devices and apps that will make your life more fun, and not just more efficient or productive.

Our panelists:

Architectural photographer Elisif Brandon will share some of her favorite photo gizmos — ways to find the best light at any given place and time, ways to keep your photos safe on a long trip without carrying your laptop around, and a device to track your business mileage for tax purposes.

Martin Kadansky of Kadansky Consulting, will recommend a combination of high-tech and low-tech tools that he often finds useful, plus a fun toy for when you need a break from running your business.

On a somewhat more serious note: Terry Snyder of PS Associates reminds consultants who typically spend long hours on their computers that it doesn’t have to hurt! She will introduce some computer accessories that can ease your discomfort and help you work more productively.  She has been providing ergonomic consulting to healthcare, university, and industry for over 25 years.

Former SPC president Steve Balzac, of 7 Steps Ahead, LLC, will moderate our panel.

Dress at the event will be casual.
