"When I
get a referral and make a call, I get voicemail most of the time. I prefere not
to leave a message since I feel I must give the individual time to return my
call rather then trying repeatedly to catch the person in his office.
Eventually I do leave a message. Since a phone number is all that I have, there
is no other way to leave a message. What is your opinion on the use of
voicemail and what message should be left?" |
Your dilemma is a common one. Some other ways to
approach this may be to get an operator or someone else in the organization who
may provide information about when that person will be in the office or if
there is another number to contact them. Possibly their web site might give you
an idea of how to construct an email address for that person. Finally, you may
need to go back to the person who provided the referral and state your problem
and ask if they can call for you and let the other party know that they have
provided their name to you. After this, you don't get a response, a final
attempt of writing a letter or note is about the last thing
left. |
